Hello! If you've stumbled upon this set of MLIS blog entries, you've just found my LIS 530: Organization of Information and Resources final portfolio. These five blog entries represent my journey through this core MLIS class.

  1. Citation Manager setup (Zotero) - what does it mean to start capturing and cataloging readings data for my personal use in this class?

  2. Changing Landscapes Using Data Nesting - how can GIS data be a tool for more than just maps?

  3. Design a Dating App Data Safety and/or Privacy Policy - how do the interactions between privacy and safety make data design really tricky?

  4. Design Cher's Digital Closet using conceptual data models - how can relational data models incorporate personal data and curated folksonomies to best serve their users?

  5. Convert MARC 21 Records to RDF - why is decoding and translating data from one format to another so hard, and what can we as information professionals do to help untangle these knots?

A seagull perches on a black and white information signpost against a clear blue sky.
The information gull says "hello."

They're meant to be read in this order, though if you would rather choose your own adventure, that's fine too!

I hope these blog entries help you better understand my ever-evolving thoughts around information organization.
